The system is leaps and bounds better to use than the old system.
Project Air Conditioning is a renowned air-conditioning service and installation company. From auspicious beginnings in Perth, they now service the areas of Cairns and Bunbury as well. Specialising in the design and installation of the most effective conditioning solutions for businesses big and small, they also offer technical advice and solutions for reverse cycle and ducted evaporative systems.
AB Web Developers' previous collaboration with Project Air Conditioning involved the development and maintenance of the twin online systemsAcuSERV, and AcuPARM - a customer relationship management system and a human resources management system respectively. Both systems had been developed from the ground up by AB Web Developers to service the needs for Project Air Conditioning and allow their team to effectively run all their day-to-day operations from the web.
A long-term goal with the AcuSERV and AcuPARM systems was to combine the two systems together. Although the two systems operated on the same website, they operated independently of one another. Their appearances were very different and very little data was freely exchanged between them. This caused a few bottlenecks in their effective usage. In addition, the systems did not display well on tablets and mobile devices, causing headaches for technicians on the road.
In late 2013, AB Web Developers were tasked with combining the two systems together, adding additional features to the combined system and rebranding the system completely as a new product called Acumman.
AB Web Developers proposed to do a complete merge of the two projects into one codebase, built on top of the latest version of the CakePHP framework, along with the popular Twitter Bootstrap framework for providing a responsive design to cater for the mobile and tablet devices.
Each section of the Acumman functionality was cleaned up, upgraded and abstracted into a plugin - a collection of scripts and functionality that operate together as a package. Having several plugins allowed AB Web Developers to develop each part individually and not affect the other sections of the site, but, at the same time, each is connected and able to freely communicate with one another.
The systems now work faster than ever before, and work across a much larger range of devices, allowing both the technicians on the road and the staff in the office to use the management systems with ease.
